    Les Laboratoires Servier discontinued the distribution of strontium ranelate (Protelos/Osseor) in August 2017. The drug had been authorized for marketing since 2004 for treating severe osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and adult men at high risk of fractures, particularly when other osteoporosis treatments were not viable.
