Demographic Associations of Stress-Induced Hair Loss Assessed in Medical Students
September 2021
TLDR Stress from medical training is linked to hair loss in students.
The study investigated the relationship between stress and hair loss among 303 medical students at a metropolitan university. It found that stress was associated with hair loss, as students with diagnosed hair loss had significantly higher stress scores compared to those with hair loss features but no diagnosis. The average stress levels for both groups were categorized as "moderate stress." The study did not find a significant difference in hair loss symptoms between different medical school class levels. Further research was suggested to explore the relationship between stress-induced hair loss and demographic factors such as age, gender, and class level.
