TLDR Dutasteride for hair loss can cause skin reactions like itchy red plaques.
A 56-year-old woman undergoing treatment for androgenetic alopecia with dutasteride developed erythematous, pruritic plaques on her trunk three weeks after starting the medication. She had a history of hypothyroidism and was on hormone replacement therapy for early menopause. The plaques were polycyclic and annular in nature, indicating a possible adverse reaction to the dutasteride treatment. This case highlighted the need for awareness of potential skin reactions in patients receiving dutasteride for hair loss.
