TLDR Pharmacist-led care significantly improved post-COVID symptoms.
This study in Serbia evaluated the impact of a community pharmacy-based intervention on patients with post-COVID syndrome, involving 871 patients and 53 pharmacists. Supported by the SMART Pharmacist Program, pharmacists provided counselling and self-medication guidance. The study found that the most common symptoms were related to the respiratory system, immunity, fatigue, skin, hair, nails, and cognitive functions. Initially, the median severity of symptoms was rated at three, which decreased to one after the intervention, indicating significant improvement. Additionally, 26.5% of patients were referred to their general practitioner, and 69.5% returned for follow-up visits, highlighting the effectiveness of pharmacist-led care in managing post-COVID symptoms.
