TLDR The Frechet flap technique effectively hides scalp surgery scars with good results and minimal issues.
The study focused on using the Frechet flap technique to address the 'slot' defect in scalp reduction surgery, which often resulted in hair growing in opposite directions from the scar. This technique was applied to 4 Asian patients, with an average follow-up of 13 months. The Frechet flap provided a more aesthetically satisfactory solution compared to other methods like Z-plasty and mini-graft, with no significant complications such as infection or permanent hair loss. Only one case showed transient telogen effluvium. Overall, the Frechet flap was effective in concealing the central slot defect.
