TLDR Higher levels of miR-203 may contribute to hair loss in alopecia areata.
The study investigated the role of microRNA-203 (miR-203) in patients with alopecia areata (AA), a non-scarring hair loss condition. It included 30 AA patients and 20 healthy controls. Skin biopsies were analyzed using RT-qPCR to measure miR-203 expression. Results showed a significantly higher level of miR-203 in AA patients compared to the control group, suggesting a potential role of miR-203 in the pathogenesis of AA.
