Simultaneous Typing of Erythrocyte Acid Phosphatase, Adenylate Kinase and Adenosine Deaminase in Human Hair Root Sheaths

TLDR Hair root sheaths can be used to accurately analyze genetic markers.
The study conducted in 1986 involved the simultaneous analysis of erythrocyte acid phosphatase (EAP), adenylate kinase (AK), and adenosine deaminase (ADA) in human hair root sheaths from 60 donors. The hair samples were first typed for these genetic markers and then confirmed by typing the blood from the same donors. The study demonstrated that hairs with sheath material could be accurately typed for EAP, AK, and ADA using electrophoresis, indicating the potential for using hair root sheaths in genetic marker analysis.
