TLDR Prolactin levels and gene polymorphism are not linked to vitiligo severity but are related to BMI.
The study aimed to evaluate serum prolactin levels in vitiligo patients compared to healthy controls and to assess the relationship between prolactin gene polymorphism and vitiligo severity. Conducted on 40 vitiligo patients and 40 matched healthy volunteers, the study found no significant differences in serum prolactin levels between the two groups. Additionally, prolactin gene polymorphism in vitiligo patients showed no significant correlation with sex, habits, family history, age, blood pressure, serum prolactin levels, duration of vitiligo, or VASI score, but it did show a significant correlation with BMI.
