TLDR There's no link between low iron levels and the hair loss condition, alopecia areata.
The study examined the relationship between iron body storage and alopecia areata (AA), a hair loss condition, in 183 participants, 97 with AA and 86 controls. The results indicated that serum ferritin levels were significantly higher in the AA group, but still within the normal range. The study concluded that there is no clinical association between low ferritin levels and AA, supporting the understanding of AA as an autoimmune disease.
