TLDR Many recovered COVID-19 patients, especially women, experience lingering symptoms like fatigue and headaches.
The study aimed to describe the physical, cognitive, and functional sequelae reported by 81 users of the Brazilian public health system (SUS) who recovered from COVID-19 in a neighborhood of the Serra Catarinense municipality. Conducted between June and August 2021, the research utilized structured questionnaires via WhatsApp, phone interviews, and home visits, adhering to ethical guidelines. Results indicated a higher incidence of sequelae in females, primarily experiencing mild symptoms without hospitalization, such as fatigue and headaches. Most participants did not undergo rehabilitation. The study concluded that further research is needed to monitor the long-term consequences of COVID-19 sequelae.
