TLDR SDG helps reduce BPH effects in rats.
The study investigated the effects of secoisolariciresinol diglucoside (SDG) on benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in non-emasculated male Wistar rats. Sixty rats were divided into six groups, with one group serving as a blank control and the others receiving various treatments, including SDG at different doses and Finasteride. All groups, except the blank control, were administered Testosterone Propionate to induce BPH. Results showed that while SDG did not significantly affect the wet weight and index of the rat prostate, it did influence serum PAP vitality and mitigated changes in prostate structure caused by Testosterone Propionate, such as thinning of the epithelium and reduced secretion. The study concluded that SDG had an inhibitory effect on BPH in rats.
