TLDR Pubic hair is thicker than axillary and scalp hair, useful for forensic identification.
The study aimed to understand the variation in hair types by examining 540 hair strands (180 each of scalp, axillary, and pubic hair) from 18 adult Bengalee Hindu caste females. It found significant differences in histomorphological and quantitative traits, particularly noting that pubic hair had a significantly higher shaft and medulla diameter compared to axillary and scalp hair (p < 0.05). These variations could be important for personal identification in forensic research.
