TLDR Musa paradisiaca and M. sapientum have potential health benefits, but need more scientific validation.
The review discussed the various pharmacological activities of Musa paradisiaca L. and M. sapientum, highlighting their potential as anti-diabetic, antiulcer, antioxidant, wound healing, hair growth promoting, diuretic, analgesic, antihypertensive, anti-allergic, and haemostatic agents. It emphasized the need for scientific validation of these activities, particularly for conditions like diarrhea, dysentery, ulcers, hypertension, and cardiac diseases. The presence of phytoconstituents such as alkaloids, steroids, glycosides, and flavonoids in the unripe fruit extract was noted as a basis for these pharmacological potentials, suggesting avenues for further research and therapeutic applications.
