TLDR The dog's fertility was restored with antibiotics and finasteride treatment.
A 6-year-old German Shepherd male breeder dog presented with infertility after two unsuccessful matings, despite having a history of 14 successful matings. The dog showed no other clinical symptoms or pathological history. An examination revealed asthenoteratozoospermia and hematospermia, and an ultrasound identified prostatitis with two intraprostatic cavities. These cavities were drained, revealing purulent content. The dog's fertility was restored through a combination of antibiotic and finasteride treatment, along with omentalization of the prostate, without the need for surgical castration, as confirmed by a follow-up spermiogram.
