TLDR A 15-year-old female labrador had a large ovarian tumor removed.
A 15-year-old female labrador dog with anorexia and abdominal swelling was diagnosed with an ovarian teratoma at the Veterinary Clinical Campus in Tamil Nadu. Radiographs revealed a hypoechoic mass in the abdominal cavity, and surgery removed a 2.5 kg encapsulated tumor from the left ovary. The mass had a red, firm, nodular surface and contained cystic spaces, hair fibers, and solid tissues. Histopathological analysis identified various tissues, including skin keratocyst, hair follicle, sebaceous gland, cartilage, osseous foci, adipose tissue, choroid plexus, nerve, neuropil tissue, and ovarian follicle, confirming the diagnosis of ovarian teratoma.
