TLDR Laser hair reduction can sometimes cause a rare skin condition called Fox-Fordyce disease.
This article presents a case of a 31-year-old female who developed Fox-Fordyce disease (FFD), a rare chronic skin disorder, following laser hair reduction treatment. FFD is characterized by pruritic papules due to trapped apocrine sweat and is often triggered by trauma, such as laser treatment. The condition predominantly affects postpubertal women and may be influenced by hormonal factors. While there is no definitive cure, treatments include topical retinoids, tacrolimus, steroids, and antibiotics. The case highlights the need for awareness of FFD as a potential side effect of laser hair reduction and suggests it as a differential diagnosis for clinicians.
