TLDR Quetiapine may cause hair loss.
A clinical case report documents a 37-year-old man in Morocco who experienced hair loss after two months of quetiapine treatment for major depressive disorder. Upon discontinuation of the medication, hair regrowth was observed, suggesting a link between quetiapine and hair loss, specifically telogen effluvium. This is the first such case reported in Morocco, with similar cases noted in New Zealand, Turkey, and Germany. The report emphasizes the need for increased awareness of this rare side effect and calls for further research to understand quetiapine's tolerability and improve prescribing practices.
