TLDR Pseudo-Cushing's symptoms disappear once the underlying issue is resolved.
Cushing's syndrome was a rare disorder caused by prolonged exposure to high levels of glucocorticoids, leading to symptoms such as weight gain, easy bruising, and mood swings. Pseudo-Cushing's states, however, were conditions that mimicked Cushing's syndrome symptoms without the actual syndrome, often due to stress, alcoholism, or psychiatric conditions. These states were characterized by increased cortisol production but with fewer clinical signs than true Cushing's syndrome. Awareness of Cushing's syndrome increased due to media and internet resources, prompting earlier medical consultations. Resolution of the underlying condition in pseudo-Cushing's states typically led to the disappearance of symptoms.
