Premature Greying of Hair Among the Population of King Faisal University in Al-Ahasa, Saudi Arabia: An Epidemiological Study

The study conducted at King Faisal University in Saudi Arabia assessed the prevalence and associations of premature greying of hair (PMGH) among 447 participants aged 18-30. It found that 42.5% of the sample experienced PMGH, with a higher prevalence in females (84.2%) compared to males (15.8%). The study identified several factors associated with PMGH, including thyroid issues, vitamin deficiencies, alopecia areata, vitiligo, smoking, sun exposure, and personal habits like using hair straighteners and hair gel. A family history of PMGH was also significant in predisposing individuals to this condition.
