TLDR Early greying and male pattern baldness can predict heart disease in young Asian men.
The study conducted on 1380 young Asian males (<40 years) from Western India found a significant association between premature greying, androgenic alopecia (AGA), and coronary artery disease (CAD). Of the participants, 468 had established cases of CAD, while 912 were healthy males without a history of major illness, including CAD. The prevalence of premature greying (49.6% vs 29.9%) and AGA (49.1% vs 27.4%) was significantly higher in CAD patients compared to the control population. The study concluded that AGA and premature greying are independent predictors of premature CAD in young Asian males.
