Factors Affecting Extraction Efficiency and Establishing Quality Standards for Pomelo Peel Essential Oil: A GC-FID Approach

    This study examines the extraction efficiency of Pomelo peel essential oil and sets quality standards using GC-FID. It focuses on Pomelo varieties from Vinh Long, Vietnam, identifying optimal conditions for extraction, such as a raw material-to-solvent ratio of 1:4, an extraction time of 120 minutes, and a high distillation rate, achieving a maximum yield of 2.6% for Citrus maxima. The GC-FID method is validated for precise and accurate limonene quantification. The quality standards, based on ISO 3053:2004, confirm the essential oil's compliance with parameters like density, refractive index, and limonene content, supporting its use in pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
