TLDR Copaiba resin oil shows promise for cancer therapy and is safe for topical use.
The study focused on the phytochemical evaluation and quality control of Copaifera officinalis resin oil, aiming to develop a phytotherapeutic formulation for cancer patients. A total of 64 substances were identified in the resin oil, with sesquiterpenes and diterpenes being predominant. A validated analytical method using GC-MS was developed to quantify β-caryophyllene, demonstrating high accuracy and precision. The study also established quality control parameters, including density and viscosity, and developed a stable pharmaceutical foam formulation suitable for topical application. The findings confirm the authenticity and purity of copaiba resin oil and suggest potential for further preclinical and clinical studies to confirm its pharmacological activities.
