TLDR Post-bariatric surgery patients often face gastrointestinal issues, fatigue, dry skin, hair loss, and anxiety.
The study on 150 post-bariatric surgery patients at Alexandria University identified common physiological and psychological problems. Physiological issues included gastrointestinal problems (nausea, emesis, dumping syndrome, abdominal fullness) within the first four months, fatigue, dry skin, and hair loss between 9-12 months post-surgery. Psychological issues, particularly anxiety disorders, were prevalent in 72% of patients during the 9-12 month period. These findings highlight the need for ongoing assessment and management of these conditions to improve long-term outcomes for bariatric surgery patients. The study recommends further research with larger sample sizes.
