TLDR People with androgenetic alopecia are more likely to have personality disorders.
This study from 1994 investigated the relationship between androgenetic alopecia and psychological factors by examining 116 outpatients. It found that individuals with androgenetic alopecia had a significantly higher prevalence of personality disorders compared to the general population. The study revealed that gender did not influence the prevalence of personality disorders or psychopathologic symptoms. Instead, the presence of a personality disorder, as defined by the Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Revised Third Edition, was the most significant factor in developing psychopathologic reactions to alopecia. Three distinct personality profiles were identified, which were associated with gender and reactive symptoms.
