TLDR Some people still have COVID-19 symptoms after 90 days, especially older patients and those with severe initial symptoms, but most return to normal.
The study "Prevalence and predictors of persistent post-COVID-19 symptoms" analyzed 993 patients and found that 28.5% of the 466 respondents reported one or more persistent symptoms 90 days after infection, with fatigue being the most common. Persistent symptoms were more prevalent in older patients, those diagnosed in hospital, and those with initial constitutional and rheumatologic symptoms. The study also found that more than 90% of patients reported returning to their normal state, suggesting that only a minority were experiencing symptoms severe enough to prevent resumption of daily activities. The study concluded that the burden of post-COVID-19 symptoms is likely overestimated by most reports.
