TLDR Peanut allergies can be transferred through organ transplants.
A 31-year-old female developed a peanut allergy after receiving a liver transplant from a donor with a known peanut allergy, which was confirmed when another recipient of the same donor's lung also had a severe allergic reaction to peanuts. This case demonstrated that food allergies could be transferred through organ transplants, likely via passive transfer of donor IgE. The study emphasized the need for including donor allergy history in pre-transplant screenings to prevent post-transplant anaphylaxis, and noted that most transferred allergies were transient and manageable with allergen avoidance or changes in immunosuppressive therapy.
