Is Oral Finasteride Effective in Reversing Hair Loss in Men with Androgenetic Alopecia

The review evaluated the effectiveness of oral finasteride in reversing hair loss in men with androgenetic alopecia through two double-blind RCTs and one open-label study. The results were inconsistent. Rossi et al. found a significant improvement in hair growth with oral finasteride compared to Serenoa repens. Gubelin Harcha et al. reported that men perceived increased hair growth with oral finasteride versus placebo, but this did not translate into overall satisfaction. Hajheydari et al. found no significant difference between oral and topical finasteride. Overall, the studies provided mixed evidence on the efficacy of oral finasteride for hair loss reversal.
