TLDR Elderly residents in a Baghdad nursing home face health issues due to being overweight and medication use, needing better supervision.
The study assessed the nutritional status of 50 elderly residents in a Baghdad nursing home using anthropometric measurements, dietary patterns, and clinical appearances. The majority of participants were aged 70-74, with 62% being male and many being illiterate. Findings indicated that 30% were overweight, and 82% had normal mid-upper arm circumference. Common issues included easy hair loss and bleaching nails, with most residents not regularly consuming vitamins and minerals. The study concluded that residents faced medical problems related to being overweight and medication use, recommending improved coordination between governmental and civil institutions for better supervision of residents' needs.
