A Novel Device to Insert Follicular Unit Grafts into Premade Sites

    In 2018, Dr. Parsa Mohebi developed a device called the Mohebi Inserter to improve the process of follicular unit excision (FUE) hair transplantation. The device was designed to reduce the manipulation of hair follicles during the placement process into premade sites. The Mohebi Inserter allows a single technician to load and deploy grafts with one hand, which can increase efficiency and reduce the space needed around the patient's head. This is particularly beneficial during simultaneous excision and placement processes. The device borrows its plunger from the traditional sharp implanter, exhibits similarities to the Vasa and KEEP graft placers, and uses a similar mechanism for depth control as the Hwang Implanter. The Mohebi Inserter has a short learning curve, allowing new technicians to quickly become efficient. However, the editor noted that while the device is innovative, more data is needed regarding cosmetic outcome, survival rates, and potential complications compared to traditional forceps placing.
