TLDR The Society's journals now have a policy to make colors in their content accessible to people with color blindness.
The Journal of Physiology and Experimental Physiology have implemented a new policy to improve colour accessibility in their published content, considering the prevalence of colour vision deficiency (colour blindness) in about 5% of the global population. The policy aims to ensure that no information is conveyed by colour only, and recommends the use of accessible colour combinations or greyscale pictures. This change is significant as the Society's journals amass over 6 million downloads per year, indicating a large number of readers, referees, and editors could be affected by colour inaccessibility, potentially impacting the assessment, reach, and impact of published research.
