TLDR VKHD and sarcoidosis may share a common cause.
A 43-year-old Japanese woman with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease (VKHD) developed neurosarcoidosis 6 years after her initial diagnosis. Despite steroid treatment for VKHD, she presented with neurological symptoms, including dysesthesia and elevated serum ACE levels, at age 49. Chest CT and histology confirmed sarcoidosis. This case underscored the potential for delayed onset of neurosarcoidosis in VKHD patients and suggested a possible shared pathophysiology between the two conditions, highlighting the importance of long-term monitoring and the need for further research to understand the underlying mechanisms.
