TLDR VKHD and sarcoidosis may share a common cause.
A 43-year-old Japanese woman was diagnosed with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease (VKHD) and treated with steroids. At age 48, after tapering off oral prednisolone, she developed dysesthesia and was diagnosed with sarcoidosis based on elevated serum ACE levels and histological findings. Steroid therapy improved her condition. This case suggested a possible common pathophysiology between VKHD and sarcoidosis, highlighting the need for further research to understand their concurrence.
