Nanoparticles in Cancer Treatment: A Narrative Review
TLDR Nanoparticles improve cancer treatment by reducing side effects and targeting cancer cells better.
Nanoparticles significantly advanced cancer treatment by addressing the limitations of conventional chemotherapy, such as drug resistance and non-specific toxicity, which led to adverse effects like hair loss and peripheral neuropathy. Nanotechnology-based chemotherapy offered a promising alternative by reducing systemic toxicity and overcoming multidrug resistance through functionalized particles targeting specific treatments. Additionally, nanoparticles played a crucial role in cancer diagnostics. This review analyzed articles from 2002 to 2021, highlighting the breakthroughs, challenges, and future prospects of nanoparticles in cancer treatment.
