TLDR MYB30 and EIN3 work against each other to control root hair growth and phosphorus uptake in plants when phosphate is low.
The study investigated the role of the MYB30-EIN3 module in regulating root hair (RH) growth and phosphorus uptake in Arabidopsis under phosphate (Pi) deficiency. It was found that MYB30 and EIN3 antagonistically controlled RH growth by modulating the expression of RSL4 and other Pi starvation-responsive genes, leading to a balanced Pi uptake. MYB30 negatively affected RH growth, while EIN3 had a positive influence. The research provided insights into the molecular mechanisms of plant adaptation to Pi deficiency and suggested potential targets for developing Pi deficiency-tolerant crops.
