TLDR The Doberman had multiple skin tumors, but it's unclear if color dilution increased the risk.
An 11-year-old Doberman Pinscher with color dilution alopecia exhibited numerous skin lesions, including keratinizing infundibular cysts, keratin horns, perifollicular dermatitis, and sebaceous hyperplasia, often accompanied by furunculosis and suppurative panniculitis. Over 9 months, 32 lesions were histologically examined, revealing various tumors such as lipomas, a squamous papilloma, mast cell tumors, cavernous hemangiomas, a hemangiosarcoma, and melanomas. The study did not determine whether the color dilution phenotype increased the risk of skin and subcutaneous tumors.
