Multiple congenital smooth muscle hamartoma: A case report

This case report discusses a 10-month-old female with multiple congenital smooth muscle hamartomas (CSMH), a benign condition characterized by the proliferation of smooth muscle cells. The lesions appeared as skin-colored to slightly brownish hairy patches on various body parts. Diagnosis was confirmed through histopathological examination, which showed benign smooth muscle proliferation. CSMH is often confused with other conditions like Becker’s nevus and plexiform neurofibroma, but can be distinguished by specific histological and immunohistochemical features. The report emphasizes the importance of early and accurate diagnosis to differentiate CSMH from other potentially malignant conditions. The patient has been monitored for 1 year without major health issues, and long-term follow-up is planned.
