TLDR Internet and community fair recruitment effectively gathered a diverse group for a menstrual health survey.
The study tested the feasibility of using multimodal recruitment strategies to gather a diverse cohort for a web-based survey on ovulation and menstruation health. A total of 438 women were recruited over 29 weeks, with 345 enrolling and 247 completing the survey. Participants had a median age of 25 years and a mean BMI of 26.1 kg/m². The cohort was racially diverse, with 64.7% White, 11.8% Black/African American, 7.7% Latina/Hispanic, and 5.9% Asian individuals. The study found that internet and community fair recruitment resulted in higher survey completion rates compared to clinic recruitment. The approach successfully achieved target recruitment quickly and established a diverse group for studying menstrual health.
