TLDR Most children with MIS-C showed significant improvement by 6 months.
This study followed 21 children with multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-c) to evaluate their short- and mid-term outcomes. Initially, all children showed multi-organ involvement, with symptoms like fever, rash, and abdominal pain. Most received immunomodulatory therapy, and over half required intensive care. At the 2-week follow-up, significant clinical improvement was observed, although many children experienced decreased physical activity and exercise intolerance. By 6 months, most symptoms had resolved, and cardiovascular improvements were noted, with no residual changes in ECG or echo by 2 months. The study highlights encouraging mid-term outcomes for MIS-c patients, despite its small sample size and lack of a control group.
