TLDR Sodium and potassium levels in Egyptian scalp hair differ by sex and can aid in legal cases.
The study examined the mineral content of scalp hair from 128 normal Egyptian individuals using flame photometric and colorimetric methods. It found that sodium and potassium levels were sex-specific and could serve as medico-legal indicators, while calcium levels showed no significant sex differences. Copper and iron levels were slightly higher in females, particularly during their reproductive years. Additionally, a relationship between phosphorus and calcium content in scalp hair was observed.
