TLDR Mineral levels in hair and serum don't help diagnose Alzheimer's.
The study investigated serum and hair concentrations of copper, zinc, magnesium, calcium, and manganese in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and their healthy spouses. It found no differences in these mineral concentrations between the AD patients and the control group, suggesting that these measurements are not useful for diagnosing AD. However, a significant positive correlation was observed between age and hair manganese levels in the control spouses, with a similar trend noted in the AD patients, though it was not statistically significant.
