Study on Mineral Content Analysis of Marathon Participants with Hair Loss in Chuncheon
August 2015
TLDR Male marathon runners in their 40s and 50s had more hair loss and higher heavy metal levels.
This study analyzed the mineral contents of marathon runners with hair loss using hair testing, focusing on participants in the Chuncheon Marathon in March 2006. It found that male runners experienced more hair loss than female runners, particularly those in their 40s and 50s. The analysis revealed higher levels of heavy metals, specifically aluminum, mercury, and barium, among the subjects. Additionally, the mineral contents in Korean runners were lower in selenium, manganese, phosphorus, and sulfur, while those with hair loss had higher levels of potassium, calcium, zinc, sodium, copper, and chrome.
