The study examined the microscopic hair structure of donkeys and horses, revealing notable differences in their brain substance and cuticle patterns. Donkey mane hair had densely grouped brain substance occupying most of the hair, while horse mane hair had grouped rounded cells with small intervals. The cuticle of donkey hair had fringed edges, whereas horse hair had irregular waves with sharp edges. Using light and scanning electron microscopy, the study analyzed samples from 7 donkeys and 7 horses, demonstrating the potential for species differentiation based on hair structure.
