TLDR Hair can help assess Copper and Zinc levels in dogs.
The study evaluated the correlation of micro minerals Copper (Cu), Iron (Fe), and Zinc (Zn) in the primary hair-plasma of 20 dogs, specifically 10 Pomeranians and 10 Labradors. It was found that the correlation coefficients for Cu and Zn in the primary hair-plasma were significant at the 5% and 1% levels for both breeds. However, the correlation for Fe was not significant in either breed. This suggested that hair could be a useful biopsy material for assessing certain mineral levels in dogs.
