TLDR Tumescent liposuction reduces waist and hip size but doesn't significantly change metabolic markers, though it may slightly improve blood pressure and certain protein levels.
This single-center, prospective cohort study involved eight participants who underwent tumescent liposuction, with an average of 1.7L of fat removed. The study aimed to investigate the metabolic effects of this procedure. Metabolic and lipid markers were tested before and three months after the procedure. While significant decreases in waist and hip circumference were observed, no significant differences in metabolic markers were detected. However, there were slight trends towards improvement in systolic blood pressure, fasting triglyceride levels, adiponectin, leptin, and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein levels, but these did not reach statistical significance. No adverse events were reported post-liposuction.
