TLDR Melatonin may treat rosacea and Alzheimer's by reducing inflammation and affecting blood vessel growth.
The study investigated the link between rosacea and Alzheimer's disease (AD), finding 747 overlapping differentially expressed genes related to inflammation, metabolism, and apoptosis. Using bioinformatics and network pharmacology, melatonin (MLT) was identified as a potential treatment for both conditions. MLT was associated with 19 pharmacological targets and influenced inflammatory and vascular signaling pathways. Experiments showed that MLT improved rosacea-like skin lesions by reducing inflammatory cytokine secretion and inhibiting HUVEC cell migration. The study concluded that MLT could effectively treat rosacea and AD by regulating inflammation and angiogenesis.
