TLDR People with AB blood type may be more likely to get melasma.
The research studied the relationship between melasma, a skin hyperpigmentation condition, and ABO/Rh blood types, involving 100 melasma patients and 1000 healthy controls. The findings indicated a significantly higher occurrence of AB blood type in melasma patients and a higher occurrence of B blood type in the control group. Rh positivity was also notably higher in the patient group. The study concluded that blood type might have a role in the development of melasma, but larger, multicenter studies are required to validate these results.
