TLDR Traditional Persian medicine helped a woman with resistant hyperthyroidism improve and stabilize her condition.
A 27-year-old woman with resistant hyperthyroidism, unresponsive to conventional treatments, showed significant improvement after following traditional Persian medicine (TPM) recommendations, including lifestyle changes, Melissa officinalis herbal tea, and Persian barley water. Within two months, her TSH levels increased, and T3 and T4 levels decreased, with notable symptom relief. After three months, her thyroid function tests normalized, and her condition remained stable over a one-year follow-up. This case suggests TPM may be effective for hyperthyroidism, warranting further research and clinical trials.
