TLDR Low-dose oral minoxidil does not significantly affect blood pressure in patients with hair loss and hypertension.
This multi-center cohort study investigated the impact of low-dose oral minoxidil (LDOM) on blood pressure in 319 androgenetic alopecia (AGA) patients with a history of essential hypertension who were taking antihypertensive medications. The study found no statistically significant differences in systolic and diastolic blood pressure before and after initiating LDOM, indicating that LDOM does not significantly affect blood pressure in these patients. This suggests that LDOM can be safely used in hypertensive AGA patients without posing additional blood pressure-related risks. Further research is needed to assess LDOM's effects in patients on combination antihypertensive therapies and those with other cardiovascular conditions.
