TLDR Key genes influence cashmere growth cycles, aiding goat breeding.
The study on cashmere growth cycles identified three distinct periods: growth (March-September), regression (September-December), and resting (December-March), with March marking the cycle's start. It found a positive correlation between KAP and KRTAP genes and the growth cycle of secondary hair follicle cashmere, aligning with the cashmere growth cycle. However, hair follicle development-related genes were expressed earlier than cashmere growth, suggesting that cycle regulation could modify cashmere's temporal growth. This research established a theoretical foundation for understanding the cashmere development cycle and highlighted key genes involved, providing a basis for cashmere goat breeding.
