TLDR An 11-year-old obese girl was diagnosed with lipedematous scalp, a condition with swollen scalp tissue usually found in adult women.
An 11-year-old girl presented with spongy swellings on various parts of her scalp, with normal overlying skin and hair growth. She had no systemic disease except for exogenous obesity. Ultrasonography revealed thickened subcutaneous tissue in the swollen areas, and histopathological examination showed elastic fiber fragmentation in the dermis and increased thickness in the subcutaneous fat tissue containing numerous hair follicles. These clinical and histopathological findings were consistent with a diagnosis of lipedematous scalp, a condition previously described predominantly in adult women.
