TLDR Adding 0.029% iron glycine chelate to piglet diets improves growth and hair color.
The study investigated the effects of iron glycine chelate (Fe-Gly) with different purities on the growth performance and hair color of 144 weanling piglets. The piglets were divided into four groups, with three groups receiving different purities of Fe-Gly and one control group receiving ferrous sulfide. Over 28 days, Group A, which received 0.029% Fe-Gly, showed the best results with a 3.18% improvement in average daily gain (ADG), a 7.82% reduction in feed-to-gain ratio (F/G), and significant improvements in piglet complexion and hair compared to the control group. Groups B and C also showed improvements, but to a lesser extent. The study concluded that a 0.029% addition of glycine iron complex in the diet was most effective.
